Yaa I've seem em. So many new emulators popping up recently. Definitely going to try a few of them when I get my mac. I know I don't have the processing power right now after I tried some of the usual suspects things a few months ago.

Genuinely excited to give them a go.

Elektron boxes are the shitttttt. Always thought they seemed like hipster nonsense but god I love my analog rytm and I love talking about how much I love it. Seems like a drum machine but it's really an entire groovebox. If you find some single cycle waveform samples and load them into each sample slot set to loop mode you can effectively have 12 simultaneous oscillators... on top of the native dual VCO mode you can set some channels to (which can give you some killer detuned analog trance leads!!). Did I mention a multimode analog filter per channel (so 12 of them!!! AND they sound bloody gorgeous). I'd feel like such a chud having a studio full of only elektron boxes, but fuck I get it. And I've never heard a better overdrive/drive algorithm in my LIFE (SO CRUNCHY!!).

Yaa this guy definitely knows its sweet spots. These are the most blofeldy sounds imaginable. Tbf I have fond memories of the blofeld helping me find my style. Should probably keep it. The steppy encoders PISS ME OFF!!!!

We can go ahead with the ep, I've sent you the Raison d'etre mix so you can master it. Booked a call for 4pm today

At the end of the day I really don't mind what you do with the files I've given you for the release, you're not capable of butchering them and I have a lot of faith in you. If you want the stems for Raison d'etre just let me know. Won't share them unless it's really necessary because sifting through 60 channels would be a real PITA and I like my mix :)))

Also booked a call today for 4pm. Doubt we'll need the full hour, but it gives me peace of mind being able to ask questions/organise over a call

I would rather keep my mix for Raison d'etre as is as I think it fits my creative vision perfectly, but you can master it to make it sound cohesive with Shoot by mistake if you'd like.

Let's stay with your mix for SBM but see if you can adjust it to make it sound similar to the mix of RD if possible

@​aymat I was thinking you still mix/master shoot by mistake as you were intending, and I had sent you my final master of the second track (Raison d'etre) in a separate post here: https://aymat.org/community/session-john/shoot-by-mistake-release/#post-315 

Since Raison d'etre is already mastered, you can focus on Shoot By Mistake in exactly the same way you were planning to, and then include Raison d'etre as it is. Though I can send you the mix and you can master it if you really want to.

I would love to release these as an EP rather than as singles, as I feel they complement each other nicely. 

I don't mind calling tomorrow, can I go ahead and just schedule that with the calendar?

Hi Joel, created this as my updates were starting to look messy/cause spam in the Release Schedule and Article Interview channel, and I want to summarise everything here to make it easier for you once you come to read my messages. (Since I'm not sure how to delete them).

1. Your original master for Shoot By Mistake has grown on me a lot.

2. I'm steadily working through answering all the interview questions. I've done about 8 so far, so I'll be done with those later today, and follow up here with a link to that (+the accompanying images you wanted).

3. I've been making a second track for the release through the week. It is now fully mastered and is 5 minutes and 37 seconds.

I've thought of a name: 'Raison d'etre'. 

I'd like it to come before Shoot By Mistake in a mini LP release containing both tracks. If there's any reason you can't do that, it's okay. You can just upload Shoot By Mistake on its own and I can upload Raison d'etre on my own bandcamp.

@​aymat actually I could probably get this other track done by friday-sunday. My hearing is beginning to clear up already. I could mix/master it for you too. I think a mini LP with both of these would be epic.

@​aymat I was also listening back to your first master of my song and realised (and I remember you mentioning this in our call) that you simplified the snares and removed one of the layers or something? I think you should keep both layers because I notice some drum parts in the final breakdown sounding messier due to only the noise layer being present or whatever.

I was working on a song (5 minutes long so far) that I was going to give you to also include with this release, but got caught up in some nasty flu and now my hearing is way too muffled to finish it. (forced to take a break now so it's good to have something else to do answering these questions).

I have a real soft spot for EXTREMELY long repetitive songs that just take you away from this world completely. Definitely want to make some 10/15 minute tracks once I get a more powerful machine
