Im so out of shape lmao. I forgot my phone here so i only saw your message when i was turning on the computer. Good thing is that i can export those stems not in a rush. (Why does reason renders faster than Live anyway?!)

But now let me counter suggest this: (if you cool with it - anyhow im exporting the stems)

What if i repackage this portable reason and give you THE session.rns so you can do whatever you want and then we we co-sign it as NUMAflex ft. Aymat in the track artist, not in a parenthesis after the title, BEFORE. It would not only be an honor to me, but a heartfelt homage to the label head honcho????

So I listened to the track and I took some notes. First of all, much much better. You have a lot more different sections which is great, now we just need to fine tune. So the things I notice now are we need to work on adjusting the energy, right now its a bit too energetic, we just need to dial it back and build into that energy better. We can do that by adding an additional breakdown and extending the length of that breakdown so we can build up enough anticipation when the drop comes. If we add another breakdown, we're essentially building into a second drop. This is one of my favorite parts of arranging, we can make that second drop into a completely different section. Check out how Ray Keith explains it at 32:28:

All youre doing is switching it up for 8 bars or 16 bars. Just something different, a little ear candy or something that isnt anything youve already used in the track. That gives it a little element of surprise and entices the listener. I do this a lot and its a really nice trick that doesnt take much to do. Sometimes I even just grab existing projects that are in the same key and just take a section from that project and drop it in to the project Im working on.

Heres an example: https://aymat.bandcamp.com/track/aphelion ... Go to 4:20 and hit play, that new section comes in at 4:35 and I let it roll out until 5:20

All I did was grab the rhodes parts I wrote for a different track and dropped them in. Again, all youre doing is adding variation so that the listeners ear doesn't get tired.

Ok so now what I want you to do, is export the stems and send them to me. I'm gonna arrange this for you because I think its going to help you see it in context as an arrangement in your daw. Once you have that, youll be able to reference it. Send them over when youre ready!

I've considered ALL things you said in the video, I've replicated everything i could considering reason's limitations. Im thankful for them exported loops (used as reference) cause we know reason isn't the tool to mess up with loops, ik ik Dr Rex, but im so used to live worflow it did hurt my brain a little while getting the grip of it.

I've left the arrangement after the breakdown as More energetic to less populated blocks as if descending... but if you want me to reorder or even delete some parts (cause is 6min too much???) fear not its all reason BLOCKS, ill send you a screenshot and you can pick the color, no need to move parts and all that, there are 8 blocks of 8bar loops each + breakdown + same 8 blocks rearranged.

Was i a good grasshopper?

If we finished with this one i would like to try and finish that other one 137bpm i think, i mean if we still have some time until deadline.

Thank you Jayman, sorry for the bothering man. See ya later.

You gotta remember that all of this shit is just problem solving. If you get stuck, you cant continue doing the same thing and expect different results. You gotta step back, look at the problem, and do something completely different... like COMPLETELY different. So in the case of arranging, once you cant figure out where to go, just stop. Ask yourself what needs to happen... wheres the energy going? Does it need to increase, does it need to decrease? Am I building up to a drop, breakdown, etc. Then just take whatever arrangement you currently have, remove it and build something different.

Basically what youre trying to do is restart the creative flow. And the only way to do that is to wipe the slate clean and start from a different place. You also have to understand youre not starting over... youre making something different with the same elements so you can add to what you already have. Think of it like cooking. You have a limited number of ingredients and youre trying to figure out how to make something different so youre not eating the same thing every time lol

That 8 bar loop trick is really handy for this because you take those same sounds then create new patterns that you organize as sections. Normally I'll just fleshed out 8 bars, double it to make 16 bars and bam thats a new section ready to go. Then I just use the sections like lego blocks to build out the arrangement. It's basically groovebox workflow... if you use ReDrum in Reason, thats all it is.

Anyhow man, glad it helped and cant wait to hear what you come up with! - J

Now all thats left is to try to fix the notes on the bass, i got your message, will consider all the things you sent me. Hope i can suprise you.
